Dolly Dagger Jimi Hendrix Tribute (8:00 PM)
The Linda - WAMC's Performing Arts Center, 339 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206
Dolly Dagger is a fresh, dynamic band, based in western Massachusetts, dedicated to the celebration of Jimi Hendrix and his music. Members of the trio, Arthur Holmes, John Worth, and Brian Forfa, have been playing music together for most of the last 2 decades, delivering hard hitting blues/rock shows across the tristate area. In an era filled with countless tribute acts, "Dolly Dagger" stands tall, and sets itself apart from the rest, capturing the vibe and the intensity of a real Jimi Hendrix show.

The thing about us is that we started this tribute act out of a deep love of Jimi Hendrix and his music. I guess if we were looking to make a ton of money we could have picked a more mainstream band to do a tribute to. I think our love of his music shines through when we perform, and the people who are there, pick up on it and respond.

The American Roots Series At The Linda Presents: The Matt Flinner Trio (8:00 PM)
The Linda - WAMC's Performing Arts Center, 339 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206
Since its inception in 2006, the Matt Flinner Trio has been performing its own brand of acoustic music around the country to rave reviews. Mandolinist Matt Flinner, guitarist Ross Martin and bassist Eric Thorin cover a wide variety of musical styles---all with the common ground of originality. Bluegrass, jazz and Celtic music are all present here, but not necessarily overtly or in a contrived sense. Call it Americana Music, or New Acoustic, or Chamber Grass, or just call it Great Music; whatever label you put on it, it is guaranteed to be fresh and original, and definitely something you've never quite heard before. On select tours, the Trio performs music that is as fresh as it gets---music written the day of the show. In these "Music du Jour" Tours, each member of the Trio writes music each day of the tour, and each day?s music is debuted on that evening?s show. The results are stylistically varied, unpredictable and always exciting. The Matt Flinner Trio released their first two CDs, "Music du Jour," and "Winter Harvest" in 2009 and 2012 on Compass Records. The CDs feature selected compositions from various "Music du Jour" tours the trio did between 2006-12. Bluegrass, jazz and Americana are all part of the mix, and both CDs break new ground in acoustic string band music. Their new CD, "Traveling Roots," will be released on Compass Records on January 22, 2016.

Hot Club of Cowtown (8:00 PM)
The Linda - WAMC's Performing Arts Center, 339 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206
Since its beginnings in the late 1990s, Hot Club of Cowtown's star has continued to rise as its reputation for jaw-dropping virtuosity and unforgettable live shows has become the band's global brand. Lauded for its "down-home melodies and exuberant improvisation" (The Times, London), the Hot Club has always woven a combination of seemingly disparate styles together to its own magical effect, setting up camp "at that crossroads where country meets jazz and chases the blues away" (The Independent), and "conscious always that above all else, the music is for dancing and an old-fashioned good time" (New York Times). The band's musical alchemy has been described as "another breathless journey in the Texas tardis" (The Times, London), while American Songwriter observed that "The excellent three players of this band could be doing anything but have chosen to honor the greats of jazz and swing with their sound." The Belfast Telegraph calls them "a pretty much perfect country trio at the very top of their game," while the New York Times, reviewing a live performance in New York City in 2011, describes the trio as armed with "an arsenal full of technique and joy."

Along with the Hot Club's dedicated cult following worldwide - they have toured for the U.S. State Department as musical ambassadors to Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Republic of Georgia and the Sultanate of Oman - certain titans of the industry have also taken notice. Bob Dylan, with whom the band toured and with whom James has toured and recorded, is a continuing inspiration. The Hot Club has opened several shows for Willie Nelson, toured with Nelson and Dylan during a summer-long stadium tour, and recently opened seven nights of Roxy Music's sold-out "For Your Pleasure" U.K. stadium tour in early 2011. In the U.K. the Hot Club of Cowtown continues to tour extensively and has been featured at the Glastonbury Festival and has also been a returning guest on Later With Jools Holland, the Cambridge Folk Festival, and BBC Radio 2's Radcliffe and Maconie and Bob Harris Country shows.

Kyung Cho is a young father, compelled to take in his ageing - and difficult parents. The Linda - WAMC's Performing Arts Center, 339 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206
David Wax Museum, made up of David Wax and Suz Slezak, is known for their up tempo instrumentation featuring driving synthesizer, a quijada (a donkey's jawbone), keyboards, and fiddle. Having met in Boston while Wax was at Harvard, the pair blended his love for Mexo Americana sounds and her passion for classic folk styles into an indie Americana that took the folk scene by storm. Performing under the moniker David Wax Museum, they won their way onto a Newport side stage in 2010, and dominated the main stage just one year later. Flash forward five years and three albums later, and Wax and Slezak are married with a new child. As their relationship has progressed, so too have their style. On their forthcoming release Guesthouse, the David Wax Museum take their Mexican-inspired folk in completely new directions.

As original member Randy Stine comments, "We take the music very seriously; we just don't take ourselves too seriously."
