The Ballston Spa Summer Farmers Market returns to the great outdoors for its eighth season in Wiswall Park with a wide variety of produce, plants, baked goods, specialty foods and hand crafted items. The 2010 Summer Concerts in the Park series starts June 24 and runs through August 26. Concerts are from 6-8 pm each Thursday evening in Wiswall Park, immediately following the Farmers Market, and are free to the public. Bring your lawnchairs and blankets and enjoy a diverse line-up of musical performers. "Brookside Digs!" Summer Archeology Camp (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Brookside Museum, 6 Charlton Street
Students in grades 5-8 (ages 10-14), will dig into local history, experience a real archeological dig with real archeologists, and uncover buried remains from Brookside Museum’s 218 year history! Your “junior archeologist” will work side by side with archeologists from Hartgen Archeological Association, Inc. of Albany. The camp will run Monday-Friday, July 26th-30th, from 9 am-3 pm. (Pre-camp hours are 8-9, post-camp hours are 3-5:30.) The cost is $200 per student. A $50 non-refundable fee is due at registration. Please enroll early, registration is limited! 3rd Annual Ballston Spa Film Festival (7:00 PM)
On August 6 and 7, 2010, the Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association (BSBPA) will present the Third Annual Ballston Spa Film Festival in Wiswall Park and Ballston Spa High School Auditorium. (Rain location for park screenings will be BSHS auditorium). The Festival will showcase short films from around the world and the US as well those by local student filmmakers. Hollywood film professionals will judge the entrants to determine 12 award winners in the several categories including two exclusively for young filmmakers. Other festival activities include a live broadcast by WEQX on Friday night, UStream live web simulcast of eScape online series premiere, live Video Art by The Electric Heliotrope Theater, hands on Final Cut Pro training with producers from YNN and after parties both nights at 11 pm featuring live music by popular local band Vesper at The Brickyard Tavern (Friday) and Brookside Museum (Saturday) . Brookside Museum’s Jailhouse Rock 5K Race (8:30 AM)

Brookside Museum, home of the Saratoga County Historical Society, is inviting you to run with Elvis at the Jailhouse Rock 5K, or just dress like him. Brookside’s annual fundraising race will take place on Saturday, August 14th, at 8:30 am. Check-in starts at 7:15 a.m. The out and back course begins at the top of Mohican Hill (behind Brookside Museum) and proceeds past the fairgrounds to the correctional facility. Flat and fast with a fabulous downhill for your summertime PR! The entry fee is $22 pre-registered (through 8/11/10), $27 (8/12/10 through 8/14/10). T-shirts are given to the first 250 registered! Awards are given to the fastest male and female overall; age-group awards are given by 5 year categories. Warm up to Jailhouse Rock-type music provided by L.B. Walker. Participate in a costume contest by dressing like Elvis or Priscilla Presley! (No race registration is required to participate in the costume contest.) The Ballston Spa Educational Foundation hosts its 12th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, August 23 at Ballston Spa Country Club. Join in the fun of this 4-person scramble tournament. There will be special events, including skins, mulligans, a putting contest and a raffle. The Hole-In-One is sponsored once again by Mangino Pontiac-Buick. Registration is at 12 pm with shot gun start at 1 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm. Cost: individual golfer, $125 or a team of four persons for $400. Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting (6:30 PM)

If you haven’t already done so, make “strolling the Village” a hometown holiday tradition, as the village of Ballston Spa rings in the season with this annual celebration, starting with the Ballston Spa Santa Parade on Friday, December 3 with holiday floats, marching groups, musicians and carolers, animals, fire trucks and more. This is a community event so all parade participants are welcome! If your organization would like to march that night, please contact Ellen at the BSBPA office 885-2772 or info@ballston.org. Parade step off is at 6:30 pm at old South Street School (Reserve America). Please arrive at starting point no later than 6 pm so parade organizers can line up participants. Santa himself officially lights the village Christmas Tree at Wiswall Park at approximately 7:45 pm. Shops and restaurants will be open throughout the evening with music, refreshments, demonstrations and displays as part a special holiday-themed version of First Friday.
