The village of Ballston Spa is sponsoring a community arts project, supervised bylocal artist and organizer, Mark Blech. The goal is to create 350 painted ornaments that will be hung on the village Christmas tree. Mr. Blech is working with local organizations; the Ballston Area Community Center, the Ballston Spa Public Library, Brookside Museum, Creative Endeavors, Saratoga Bridges, the Boy Scouts, The Girl Scouts, the Cub Scouts, Ballston Seniors and Veterans Peer Connection, to create these unique one of kind artistic expressions. In addition to creating an exciting display, this project is a community building exercise, all the diverse organizations in the village are working together for a common goal. This will be the first time the Ballston Spa Village Christmas tree will be decorated with ornaments, it will become a great addition to an already festive and widely viewed event. The Ballston Spa Christmas parade is one of the largest in area, culminating with the traditional lighting of the village tree by Santa, riding atop a fire truck with Mrs. Claus. The Christmas tree ornament project will add a unique and personal touch to an already special occasion. Children and adults will get to see their artwork hung on their village Christmas tree. The project is sponsored by the village of Ballston Spa with a generous donation of materials by Curtis Lumber. Upcoming sessions to create an ornament include: November 4 and November 18, 1 pm at Ballston Spa Library (registration required, call 518 885-5022); November 11, 1-3 pm at Brookside Museum (register by email firstname.lastname@example.org).
