The 3rd Annual Ballston Spa Birdhouse Competition is underway. The theme this year is “Ballston Spa Blooms” to celebrate not only the coming spring flowers but the commitment to a strong community spirit.
Over 320 pre-made birdhouses have been distributed to be decorated by residents of the village. Birdhouses will be displayed throughout the village, on Front Street and Milton Avenue and in Wiswall Park. In addition to the pre-made birdhouses, original birdhouse creations can be entered to be judged. Entry rules and form for homemade birdhouses can be found at https://bspl.sals.edu/birdhouse-competition-information/. Birdhouses should be dropped off at the blue barn at 10 Thompson Street by May 17. A “no contact” table has been set up to leave them.
Additionally, 160 banners have been distributed to be painted. Banners can also be picked up at 10 Thompson Street, with completed banners to be turned in there by April 23. Banners will be displayed through the downtown as well.
Birdhouses and banners will be put up around the village by mid June.
The Birdhouse Competition is sponsored by Curtis Lumber with additional support from Saratoga Arts Community Arts Grant and the Village of Ballston Spa.
