June News from the Ballston Spa Lions Club

On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the Ballston Spa Lions Club donated $1000 to the Ballston Spa Library’s Capital Campaign which has been planned to renovate the library facility and build a small bump-out for a local history and reading room. Lori Acee, Library Board member, and Andrea Simmons, Library Director, accepted the donation on behalf of the library. The Lions Club Board of Directors has voted to pledge a minimum amount per year for the next four years of the Capital Campaign.

 

 

On Saturday, May 27, as part of the Memorial Day Weekend Celebration, the Ballston Spa Lions Club dedicated a Memorial Bench and plaques to deceased members.

Nineteen (19) Lions Passed away in service over the last 25 years. Each deceased Lion’s name was inscribed on an individual plaque attached to the bench. Each name was read slowly in progression. One of the deceased members is Joseph Austin. Joe was a Charter member, a local businessman, and served with the Lions Club actively for 62 years.

On June 12, 2023 the Ballston Spa Lions Club conducted the 74th Installation of Officers. Alex Guilmette, the youngest Lion to be installed as President, will oversee the Club’s projects during the 2023-2024 year. The Lions Club serves the village of Ballston Spa, as well as the Towns of Malta and Milton by providing sight and hearing services, diabetes awareness, pre-school sight screening and many other projects.
