LifeWorks Community Action Launches Community Food + Thanksgiving Challenge

LifeWorks Community Action is urgently responding to a growing need across Saratoga County by launching its Community Food + Thanksgiving Challenge — and calling on supporters, board members, and business partners to help spread the word and raise critical funds.

Addressing a Growing Crisis

With the potential federal government shutdown, essential programs like SNAP and WIC could expire as soon as November 1, leaving nearly 14,000 Saratoga County residents without the support they need to simply put food on the table.

Even without a lapse in benefits, the demand for food assistance is rising sharply. LifeWorks is seeing more and more local families turning to its food pantry each month for help.

Doubling Efforts to Meet the Need

In response, LifeWorks Community Action is taking immediate steps to meet the growing need:

  • Doubling food pantry capacity to serve up to 1,600 families each month in November and December.

  • Expanding the Thanksgiving Basket Program to reach 2,000 local families — 500 more than last year.

These expanded efforts will help ensure that every family in Saratoga County has access to nutritious food and the dignity of a holiday meal this season.

How You Can Help

LifeWorks needs the community’s help to make this possible. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Donate: Contribute to the Community Food + Thanksgiving Campaign. The goal is $100,000 for November, and the organization is already $35,000 on the way.

  • Fundraise: Join the Facebook Challenge — set a goal, share your story, and invite friends to give.

  • Volunteer: Organize a food drive, pack boxes, or help deliver Thanksgiving baskets to families in need.
